Episode 117
A conversation with Frank Levermore
TRANS GENDERFREAK, GENDERQUEER DYKE
1 hr 20 min. Recorded on 7 February 2026.
Frank’s pronouns are he/they/she in sort of preference/frequency order, and he is a trans genderfreak and genderqueer dyke. Find out what that means to Frank in this episode.
We also talk about the limitations of language, trans lesbianism, the journey of retransitioning, the importance of queer spaces and community, what it’s like training to be a therapist, and the sacredness in finding yourself.
“The wonder of gender fluidity and genderqueerness is the freedom of it, but it is also often the bouncing up against the walls of dysphoria that come here and there. My masculinity was causing me dysphoria and sometimes my femininity causes me dysphoria. Often it feels like I can’t win.”

About Frank
Frank is a genderqueer trans person who’d really use the word “lesbian” to describe their gender if that was an option on a form! Frank would describe himself as having “transcended gender”, a tongue in cheek way of saying that they’re everything and nothing all at once. He is currently studying an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy with the goal of bringing accessible, trauma informed care to the queer community. He’s passionate about creating spaces for queer and trans people to come together to access rest, community, and joy and has set up a non-profit in Norwich called Queer Joy Movement for this very purpose. Their gender journey has spanned a lifetime, with recent more fluid developments leading to the use of all pronouns and a desperate search for labels that feel like they do enough to contain the vastness of their gender experience.
